Canine Partners is a national charity that provides assistance dogs to people with physical disabilities. The dogs are trained to help with daily tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches, getting help in an emergency. These canine partners also provide emotional benefits such as increased independence, self-esteem and social interaction.
Our dogs are typically trained for about 20 months to 2 years before they can be paired with a person with physical disabilities. We are currently supporting 425 partnerships across the UK, and have a long waiting list.
